RESEARCH
Declan Cahill uses patient information and data for audit and research purposes. This is to improve outcomes and to inform patients about radical prostatectomy and Declan Cahill’s patient outcomes. Research differs from audit as it is intended to inform the literature to generate change. Your data will be anonymized for research purposes; Although pseudo anonymized from Declan Cahill’s perspective as he would recognize your clinic record as you with or without you name and demographic details.
The data will only be shared with essential personnel anonymously. These essentials would include research colleagues including statisticians.
The basis of the data usage is Article 6-1 (e) of UK GDPR. That is data that is being processed on the basis of public interest. That means we wish to use the data to generate research conclusions that may benefit men with prostate cancer.
If you wish to opt out of your data being used anonymously for research purposes, you may of course do so by contacting my office, or, if you have any questions about your data and its use please contact the office by email on dcahillsec@hcaconsultant.co.uk and we will respond in detail.
We would intend to continue follow up of your data for outcomes long-term (30 years potentially). You can withdraw your consent for us to use your data at anytime.
If you have any concerns about this you wish to raise independently of Declan Cahill or to make a complaint you can contact the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) here.
